Leveraging New Technology to Improve Fluency
Grade 7 and 8 students in Ms. de Schneider’s Language classes at IFSSe tested the “Reading Progress Learning Accelerator” in Microsoft Teams, which uses AI to track oral fluency and comprehension. Students recorded themselves reading aloud individually, which generated a running record, an audio recording, and a calculated accuracy rate. After teacher review and reflecting on responsible and ethical use of AI in the classroom, the generated information can be released to students providing them with immediate feedback to support fluency and monitor growth. (Overall Expectation: B2 Language Foundations for Reading and Writing)
How to get there:
Teams > Assignments > Create > Learning Accelerators > Reading Progress
Supporting high expectations for diverse learning and achievement by helping students improve reading accuracy and monitor growth.
Giving students specific, immediate feedback provides equitable learning opportunities and ensures all learners feel supported and valued.
Integrating AI technology into classroom practice embraces innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
