Planning for Math
K to Grade 8:
Sample Math Blocks
This section provides access to sample math block documents that follow a three-part lesson format and refer to specific sections of My Math Path or Modulo mathématiques.
These sample math blocks are organized by division and help support educators in planning instructional time to ensure that all required components are covered.
Included in each sample block are suggested timelines, overviews of each lesson part, and helpful links to supporting resources in both English and French.
We recognize that there is more flexibility in the Kindergarten program given that it is grounded in play-based and inquiry-driven learning. This flexibility allows educators to respond to children’s interests, developmental stages, and learning needs while ensuring that essential math skills are addressed within this framework.
Please ensure that your math plans follow a three part format and include explicit instruction in building fluency with number, problem-solving, exploration of geometric shapes, and measurement. It is also essential to their development that young learners are provided with daily opportunities for using concrete materials to build their conceptual understanding in mathematics. Please reach out to the Learning and Teaching Team for support!
