SNC 1W: Impact of Climate Change

In this lesson, students will explore how climate change is affecting First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities. They will learn why hunting, fishing, and trapping are important along the Winisk River and discover how Indigenous Peoples are noticing and responding to changes in the environment. Students will also learn about the Hudson Bay Lowland—one of the largest wetland areas in the world and part of the Mushkegowuk Traditional Territory. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to explain how different communities use sustainable practices to help keep ecosystems balanced and healthy.
